December 23rd Coral Reef State Park
さむ〜いオハイオを脱出し、
暖かいフロリダに到着。
夏のアラスカより暖かかった！
We escaped from cold Ohio,
and got to warm Florida.
It was warmer than Summer
in Alaska!

最初に訪れたのがこの公園。
マングローブの木を初めて見ました。

セブンマイル・ブリッジ Seven-Mile Bridge
セブンマイルブリッジ
1979年から1982年に建設されました。
全長10.93km、1982年開通です。

The whole lengs is 6.79 miles (10.93 km),
and is opened in 1982.

古い橋は1909年から1912年の建設。
しかし、ハリケーンで損傷を受けてしまったそうです。
The old bridges are constructed
during 1909-1912,
but hurricanes caused damages.

低い隆起はあるものの、平坦な橋です。
車窓から全体像を望むのは無理でした。
There is one low hill,
but it is rather flat.
It was hard to see the whole bridge
from the car window.
この公園はキーウェストの繁華街のほど近く。
人もちらほらしかいませんでした。
（2組結婚式をしてました）
夕日を見るなら、ここはとってもお勧めです!

There were small number of people.

We highly recommend this park
to appreciate the sunset.

ここのホテルは、我々が今まで滞在した中で最高でした。お値段も、額面上では今まで最高額。
しかし、ハリケーンウィルマの影響で一階のほとんどが冠水したために、
一階の修理をするために我々は、この部屋に移動させられたのでした。
宿泊費は、普通の部屋と同じくらい安かったです。
This was the best and the supposed most expensive hotel we have ever stayed in.
The charge should be $849 for one night.
Due to the effects of hurricane Wilma, most of the first floor was flooded.
Therefore to repaire the rooms on the first floor, we were moved to this room by the hotel.
The accomodation charge was as cheap as regular rooms.

12月24日 ドライ トートガス国立公園
December 24th, Dry Tortugas National Park
キーウェストの西112.9kmに浮かぶ7つの島です。
ドライトートガス諸島はスペイン人によって1513年に発見されました。
その名前は、水のないこと(dry)、亀が住んでいたこと(tortugas)から付けられました。
（今もなお亀の繁殖地です。）
1800年初め、この島は、軍事的に重要な位置にあると考えられていました。
砦の建設は1846年に開始され、未完のままです。
軍事的価値は下がりましたが、サンゴや海洋生物、鳥類の価値が重要視されるようになりました。
この地域は、1992年に国立公園に指定され、歴史的にも自然の面からも保護されることになりました。

These seven islands are located almost 70 miles (112.9 km) west of Key West.
The Tortugas were first discovered by Spanish in 1513.
Dry means there was no water, Tortugas came from sea turtles.
(Even now many turtles live around these islands.)
This islands were considered in a strategic location in the early 1800's .
Construction of the fort began in 1846, but the fort was never completed
As the military value decreased, its reefs, abundant sea life and birds grew in value.
The area was redesignated as Dry Tortugas National Park in 1992 to protect both the historical and natural features.

日差しが強く、
気温も高かったのですが、
水は泳ぐには冷たかったです。
（かいけには
十分暖かかったそうですが・・・）

夕飯は寿司! とってもおいしかったです。
The dinner was Sushi! It was very delicious.

この公園は1992年に、
ベストビーチ（ハワイ・アラスカを除く）
に選ばれました。
遠浅のビーチがありました。

かいけがビーチで遊んでる間、
かいけママは椰子の木の下で、本を読んだり、
ペリカンがお魚を食べるのを見て
楽しんでおりました。

under the palm tree.

ホテルにて At the Hotel
クリスマスだったので、ほとんどのレストランはお休み。ピザハットでさえも休業していました。
我々のお昼は、マルちゃんのインスタントランチ（カップ麺）。
その後かいけとパパは泳ぎに行きました。
This day was Christmas day, so most of the restaurants were closed.
Even Pizza hut was closed.
We ate Maruchan instant lunch in the balcony.
Then Kaike and papa went to swimming.
クリスマスだったので、ほとんどのレストランはお休み。ピザハットでさえも休業していました。
我々のお昼は、マルちゃんのインスタントランチ（カップ麺）。
その後かいけとパパは泳ぎに行きました。

その名の通り、
見つけるのに苦労しました。
実は、繁華街にあるんですけど。
人はちらほらしかいなくって、
とっても静かでした。
As the name shows,
this Garden was difficult to find.
Actually it lies in the middle
of the downtown.
There were a few people
in there
and it was very quiet.

時差もなし、お天気もよし、ホテルよし。
ママは、フェリーで抽選に当たったし。
思い出深い旅行になりました。
There was no time lag. Wether was good. Hotel was magnificent.
And, mama won the prize on the boat.
This trip is really unforgettable...
