かいけはプールで楽しみ、
ママはジェットコースターで
叫びました。
This was a welfare program of the institute.

さよなら夕食会 Farewell dinner
日本に帰国することになり、
さよなら夕食会をしました。
お庭でご飯を食べました。
Kさん御一家日本で会いましょうね！

We came back from Detroit Airport.

じいじばあばと最後の夕食を食べました。寿司はじじばばのおごり。
次の朝、 デトロイト空港へお見送りに行きました。
This was the last dinner with grand parents in the US.
We ate Shusi (This was grand pa's treat, thaks!)
Next morning, we went to see them off at the Detroit Airport.
かいけ涙涙のお別れです。
かいけ「じいじばあば、次は何時来るの？」
Kaike bursted into tears.
Kaike: "When will you come again, grand parents?"
ワシントンDCに出かけました。
パパも、スペースシャトルがどうしても見たい、と
意気込んでいました。
Jiji requested to see the White House.
Therefore we visited Washington DC with them.
Papa determined to go and see the Space Shuttle.

They had their picture taken with the Washington Monument and the reflecting
pool in the background.
池の周りにはカモの子供達が沢山
すっごくかわいかった。
Around the reflecting pool, many ducklings could be seen.
They were so cute!

It was really muggy day.
Birds were bathing in the pond.
アオカケスが木の上で鳴いていました
A Blue Jay was singing on a tree.

夕飯はアメリカ料理を楽しみました
We enjoyed dinner
at the American restaurant.
ツアー開始時に合言葉は、"Show me the money!"（「お金を見せて！」）
このツアーでは、写真撮影禁止でした。
This day we joined guided tour in the Bureau of Engraving and Printing.
At the beginning of this tour, we all shouted "Show me the money!" as a password.
Taking pictures were prohibited during this tour.

In the morning, we went up to Washington Monument.
警察官が厳戒態勢です。
The police were on the strict alert around the White House.
なんと！車の行列が通り、
その中のリムジンに大統領が!!!
Wow! We saw a car cavalcade and there was Mr. President in the limousine!!!

かいけパパとかいけママは、大統領がリムジンの中から手を振るのを目撃！
しかし、ホワイトハウス周辺はまたまた閉鎖中。
待つことしばし、やっとホワイトハウス周辺に入ることが出来ました。
In this morning around White Housewe came across the cavalcade again.
Dad and Mom saw the President waving to us from the inside of the limousine!!!
But the area around White House was also shut up...

小さかった？
The White House was smaller than Jiji had been thinking?
大統領はママの想像より大きかった。
Mr. President was bigger than Mama had imagined.
